Biography
Sonja Smith is currently a leader in the Technology Industry, working as an Enterprise Sales Professional for companies such as AT&T, FleetCor Technologies, BlackBerry and most recently Xerox. As an Enterprise Professional, Sonja is responsible for identifying key areas of improvement within an organization to design digital strategies and solutions that improve sustainability, cost savings and productivity.
Sonja spent her early years out of high school as a non-commissioned officer with the United States Marine Corps. As a soldier, she managed the medical and dental supplies for all Marines deploying out of Camp Pendleton, CA for exercises both foreign and domestic. One of the things instilled from the Marine Corps was the importance of good health and fitness, which Sonja lives by to this day, incorporating running and healthy eating into her daily lifestyle.’
Sonja first became aware of Care Resource and Food For Life Network through her uncle who has been HIV positive for over 30 years. Through her uncle, having been a recipient of the programs offered at Care Resource, Sonja saw first-hand how the education, care, treatment, and support services improved his health and the overall quality of his life. The impact made on his life has forever affected her life, so when an AIDS charity dropped out of the ING Marathon in 2009, Sonja, her uncle, and cousin, together with Care Resource founded the Food For Life Network AIDS Marathon/Half Marathon fundraiser. Sonja is honored and proud to give back to the organization and family who constantly put the needs of the cause and other people before their own.
When Sonja is not working or continuing her education her hobbies include reading, running, golfing, mountain biking and most important, spending time with her family.
