Acting on Our Commitment to Anti-Racism Within the Workplace
Care Resource has developed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to further align the health center with the goal of ensuring access to quality healthcare for all. The committee’s five goals include the improvement of minority representation at all levels, diversification of purchasing practices at all levels, promotion of cultural competence, intentional empowerment of marginalized communities, and the establishment of partnerships with community-based organizations led by people of color (POC).
The committee is determining best practices for ensuring anti-racism within hiring practices and workplace culture. It relies on honest feedback from staff and uses this information to make policy amendment and improvements.
“We need to start at home, in our clinics, and see exactly where changes need to be made. Our clients will benefit from the analysis and potential changes that we make. We just have to take a hard look at ourselves first.” – Nichole Roberts
Care Resource recognizes that a diverse and inclusive workplace is a more innovative and successful one. Diversity and inclusion are both important to the health center’s culture. This committee further integrates inclusivity into the center’s fabric is instrumental in addressing racism as a public health issue, and aligns with the goal of expanding healthcare equality.
