2024 Donor Impact Report

CEO Message

Reflecting on this year, I am deeply grateful for the incredible support that has allowed us to expand access to care across South Florida.

A highlight of this progress is MacKenzie Scott’s transformative gift, which powerfully endorses our mission and accelerates our ability to provide healthcare to the most vulnerable populations. This landmark contribution is a testament to the impact we’re making together.

We are profoundly thankful for the generosity of all our donors, whose collective support is propelling us forward. Yet, the challenges our community faces continue to grow, and there is much more to be done. This report showcases the extraordinary difference your support is making in transforming lives and improving health outcomes.

Together, we are building a healthier, more resilient South Florida, and with your continued commitment, we can reach even greater milestones in the years to come. Thank you for being an essential part of this journey.

Warm regards,

A Groundbreaking Gift: MacKenzie Scott’s $9 Million Investment in Care Resource

MacKenzie Scott, through her charitable organization Yield Giving, made an extraordinary unsolicited gift of $9 million to Care Resource.

This landmark donation is a powerful endorsement of our mission to provide comprehensive primary care, preventive services, and critical support to South Florida’s most underserved communities.

This generous gift plays a pivotal role in fueling our expansion and deepening our impact, ensuring that we can continue to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community.

Honoring Dr. Peter B. Cinelli: Transforming Behavioral Health in Broward County

Dr. Cinelli and Dr. Smith

Dr. Peter B. Cinelli’s generosity has paved the way for the relocation and expansion of our Broward County Behavioral Health Services. This new center will bear his name as a tribute to his extraordinary legacy gift.

Dr. Cinelli, who passed away this year, dedicated much of his philanthropy to ensuring access to vital behavioral health services for the Broward County community.

He also funded the establishment of The SPOT Mobile Medical Clinic, an integral part of our Behavioral Health Services.

Dr. Cinelli’s unwavering generosity and compassion have been a lifeline to those most in need. –Dr. Thomas Smith, Director of Behavioral Health Services

Set to open by the end of 2025, the expanded center will triple the number of patients it can serve to 3,000 annually and will play a vital role in combating the opioid crisis and fostering recovery throughout Broward County. Funding is being sought to complete the renovation and fully realize the center’s impact.

Dr. Cinelli’s visionary gift ensures that his passion for helping others continues to impact the community, offering hope and transformative care to those in need.

A Legacy of Compassion: Joy Fishman and the Fight Against the Opioid Crisis

Emelina Martinez

We are deeply grateful to Joy Fishman and the Fishman Family Foundation for their continued generous support this year for The SPOT Mobile Medical Clinic, a key component of our Broward Behavioral Health program.

Joy’s generosity ensures we can continue providing naloxone (Narcan), sterile needles, and critical medical care to those in need, despite federal funding restrictions.

Joy’s personal commitment to The SPOT, fueled by the loss of her son to an overdose, continues to energize our efforts to address the opioid crisis and provide essential harm reduction programs to vulnerable populations.

Expanding Hope: Our New Little Havana Health Center to Triple Community Impact

Care Resource Little Havana 1800

Since 2014, our Little Havana Health Center has been a vital lifeline for a predominantly low-income, immigrant community.

To meet the growing demand for care, we’re expanding to a larger facility opening in early 2025. This expansion will triple our capacity, allowing us to serve nearly 20,000 individuals and families each year.

The new center will offer comprehensive services—including medical, dental, behavioral health, case management, food pantry and a new in-house pharmacy—all under one roof, ensuring more access to care for the community. To maximize the full impact of this expansion, we are seeking an additional $2 million to complete key components of the project. Learn more

Walgreens and Care Resource United for Community Health

Walgreens Team Community Cares Campaign

We are profoundly grateful to Walgreens for their continued support and commitment to Care Resource.

Through their annual Community Cares Campaign in Miami-Dade County, Walgreens raised over $28,000 to support our health center, bolstering our efforts to provide affordable, quality healthcare to under-resourced communities across South Florida.

Since 2016, Walgreens has contributed more than $300,000, including their involvement in AIDS Walk Miami and annual cash-wrap campaigns. This remarkable partnership has earned Walgreens a well-deserved place as a Visionary in our Keystone Society, and we are deeply thankful for their ongoing dedication to improving the lives of those in our community.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS: Impacting Food Security in South Florida

Broadway Cares

We are deeply grateful to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for their continued generosity, with a recent gift of $17,500 in support of Care Resource and our Food for Life Network (FFLN) food pantry. This funding provides food security to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in South Florida,

Broadway Cares has contributed nearly $200,000 since 1998, primarily supporting FFLN through their Food Service and Meal Delivery Program. We are profoundly thankful for their ongoing partnership, which continues to have a lasting impact on our communities.

Give Miami Day Raises $20,000+ to Combat Food Insecurity, Homelessness, and More

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Care Resource employees, who contributed over $10,000 in matching gifts, and the support of our community, Give Miami Day raised $20,000+ for our Emergency Assistance Fund.

These vital funds are essential in addressing the growing challenges of food insecurity, homelessness, and transportation barriers—critical issues that prevent many of our patients from accessing the healthcare they need.

One-third of our patient visits are directly impacted by these struggles. The Give Miami Day campaign addresses a vital need and directly supports individuals and families facing these harsh realities.
