Behavioral Health

Care Resource’s Outpatient Behavioral Health has been providing services for over 35 years and uses a holistic approach to provide effective evidence-based treatment provided by licensed therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and clinical support providers.

Recognizing the varied experiences of our patients, we offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy — and provide respectful, supportive care in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.

For clients who are uninsured or underinsured, these services are offered on a sliding fee scale. In addition, some programs are supported by grant funding, allowing eligible individuals to receive care at little to no cost.

Mental Health Treatment

A variety of approaches are offered to assist those individuals living with mood or anxiety disorders including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and DBT.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral approach. Its main goals are to teach individuals how to live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others. Coping skills are introduced to assist individuals in improving their quality of life, learning to be more mindful, and assisting in becoming more balanced.

Our DBT trained counselors introduce these approaches through structured weekly group and individual counseling sessions.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

MAT is the use of medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders and prevent opioid overdose. MAT is primarily used for the treatment of addiction to alcohol and opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates.

MAT provides comprehensive services that include outpatient psychotherapy, medical treatment, and peer recovery services.

Individual Placement Support (IPS)

Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is a model of supported employment. IPS supported employment helps people obtain employment of their preference. IPS is also an evidence-based practice. Technical training and mainstream education are available to provide opportunities for career advancements.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma can have a lasting impact on an individual’s mental health and/or sobriety. Trauma can include sexual, physical, emotional, or any distressing experience that results in an emotional challenge. Using evidenced based approaches such as EFT (Emotional focused therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, clinicians are able to effectively assist an individual to cope with the trauma and to no longer allow it to take over their lives.

HIV / STI Counseling

Test and Treat Risk Reduction Counseling uses a cognitive behavioral approach. Skills are introduced through the intervention to assist with healthy choices. Incentives may also be available for individuals who are eligible for the specific intervention. Additionally, psychoeducation and support groups are available to individuals who are living with HIV.

Co-Occurring Services

The term co-occurring disorder refers to the condition in which an individual has a co-existing mental health and substance use disorder. Appropriate care involves an integrated treatment, coordinating substance-use and mental health interventions, rather than treating each disorder separately without consideration for the other.

Our outpatient therapy integrates treatment for co-occurring disorders believing that it is the key to protecting individuals by empowering them to learn the skills necessary to take control of their lives.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several individuals at the same time. Working together collaboratively allows group members to share information in a safe space, gain a sense of belonging with others who have the same experiences, and learn in an environment that fosters change and growth.

In-Person + Telehealth

Appointments can be in-person or online through Telehealth. Telehealth is the use of digital information and communication technologies, such as computers and mobile devices, to access behavioral health services remotely. From the comfort of your home or another private space, individuals can engage in therapeutic services and receive the same benefits of care.

Please inquire with your Behavioral Health Provider if telehealth is appropriate for you.

Forensic Interventions

The goal of forensic interventions are to prevent and divert potential participants from involvement with the criminal justice system, extensive incarcerations and/or commitment to forensic state hospitals. Services include providing treatment and wraparound re-entry support services to offenders who are re-entering the community from local jails with or without supervised probation.

Individual, family, and group counseling services are available for those who are involved in the legal process.
