Providing Cost-Effective and Patient-Centered Care Throughout South Florida

The Florida Association of Community Health Centers (FACHC) in their 2023 Economic Impact Report stated that the economic impact of Care Resource was $227 million – and for every dollar invested, there was a return on investment of 182%.

The report also indicated the health center created 975 jobs in the South Florida community, served 20,478 patients, and facilitated 89,436 patient visits. 88% of those patients were below the 200% poverty level. 59.8% of them were uninsured or enrolled in Medicaid.

Care Resource continues to not only make a positive economic impact on South Florida’s economy but also takes health care far beyond its usual definition. The health center provides comprehensive preventive services and screenings, and a range of social support services to address the needs of the community’s pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations with approaches that attend to the whole health needs of patients – both physical and psycho-social. By integrating medical, dental, behavioral, and other healthcare services, Care Resource can provide patients with the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

In addition, the report indicated that 10 students were enrolled in a residency or a teaching program. Enrollment in a teaching program at Care Resource prepares students to care for diverse populations and encourages them to become more knowledgeable about patient care and further develop a high level of sensitivity.

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) like Care Resource have provided high-quality, comprehensive primary care services in medically underserved communities for over 50 years. Florida’s 54 FQHCs treat 1.8 million patients at more than 800 locations statewide, including mobile units and school-based locations.
