Eric Durden, Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (Broward)

Biography

Eric Durden is a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist at Care Resource’s Fort Lauderdale Health Center.

His own journey of overcoming addiction has shaped his passion for helping others, leading him to dedicate his life to supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Having experienced firsthand the stigma and rejection that many in recovery endure, Eric is committed to being a source of hope and guidance for those society often overlooks.

Through his work, Eric collaborates with various organizations across Broward, West Palm Beach, and Dade County, ensuring that peers receive direct access to essential community resources.

He has helped individuals obtain food stamps, SafeLink, PHP, IOP, OP, and medication adherence through psychoeducation.

Additionally, he works alongside medical and insurance providers to navigate peers effectively through the complex system of care in the Tri-County area.

Eric has played a pivotal role in securing both independent and transitional housing that meets Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) standards, empowering peers to build sustainable, long-term recovery.

By fostering independence through personal and professional development, he helps others regain stability and self-sufficiency.

Eric’s journey stands as a testament to resilience and self-belief. As he puts it, “Even when others doubt you, never doubt yourself. Success comes from within.”
