Danita Jemison, RMHCI, Clinical Counselor I

Biography

Danita Jemison attended Florida A&M University where she completed her bachelor’s in healthcare management. There, she gained experience as an intern in a community health center working in HIV prevention and outreach in the city of Tallahassee. She moved to Miami to complete a Master of Public Health from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Counselor Education from Florida International University. Her passion for mental health began with working in behavioral and public health through community outreach and HIV research.

While facilitating trauma-informed interventions for substance use and HIV, she saw the great need for targeted behavioral health interventions. Through her own experiences as well as the trauma she saw endured by those around her, she began learning ways to promote and support healing in the communities surrounding her. Since then, she has dedicated much of her time to not only educating the community on wellness but also being a part of the network to facilitate and encourage the idea of total well-being.

Danita hopes to create an environment where her clients feel ready, willing, and open to becoming the best version of themselves. She collaborates with her clients in therapy to develop, establish, and maintain healthy relationships, boundaries, and coping skills. With these new skills, her clients are supported and encouraged as they enhance their quality of life and make efforts to change their behaviors and how they process their thoughts and emotions.

Whether you are experiencing hardship, making life transitions, or needing a little guidance, know that there is always a listening ear available. Danita is here to listen, give you grace, and work with you as you make changes in your life. She will meet you where you are and walk with you on your journey of healing.
