Ana Garcia Ph.D., Vice President

Biography

Ana Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics – Division of Infectious Disease.

She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and a Ph.D. in Social Work from Barry University School of Social Work in Miami, where she is also an Adjunct Professor, teaching social work graduate students.

Having lectured extensively as well as contributing to the literature on psycho-social issues affecting infants, children, youth and their families living with HIV/AIDS, Ana also conducts behavioral and psycho-social research with this special population.

As a social work clinician, she has worked with children with HIV disease and their families since 1983. This grassroots experience has contributed to her consulting work with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the World Health Organization, PAJHO, the Surgeon General’s Work Group on AIDS, the National Minority Health Council and the Health Resources Services Administration.

Ana has served on the boards of the National Catholic AIDS Network and Health Crisis Network and is currently a board member of Care Resource Community Health Centers, Inc. d/b/a Care Resource.
