Biography
Maria Torres-Martinez joins Care Resource as Chief Operating Officer, bringing 16 years of Federally Qualified Health Center leadership experience across Puerto Rico and Florida. Her path into administration began on the clinical side, in pathology, before she found her calling in FQHC operations during her master’s residency, an experience that continues to shape how she partners with providers to build systems that support the work happening on the floor, not just the numbers on a dashboard.
In this role, she will partner closely with clinical and administrative leaders to strengthen access, quality, and financial sustainability across medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, building the systems that support Care Resource’s continued growth as an integrated, high-performing health center system.
Maria began her career in Puerto Rico, where she built Costa Salud from the ground up, including a 60,000-square-foot facility, federal grants management, and a full EMR implementation from paper records, and led efforts to stabilize operations and support patients in crisis following Hurricane Maria.
In Florida, Maria led another major facility build and multiple renovations centered on patient-centered medical home design and benchmarked clinical workflows, redesigned front desk and call center operations to drive significant revenue cycle improvement, collaborated closely on 340B pharmacy operations, and served as Interim CEO during a leadership transition, work that spanned facilities and IT systems alongside the clinical and financial sides of the house.
Family is everything to Maria. She’s the proud “cool aunt” to a dozen nieces and nephews, caregiver to her mother, and mom to three dogs. Outside of work, she’s an avid reader, a lifelong lover of science fiction, and a tabletop role-playing game enthusiast.
