Care Resource Donor Impact Report 2025: Transforming Health and Housing in South Florida
A Message from Our CEO
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we reflect on the past year, one message stands above all: thank you.
Because of your generosity and partnership, Care Resource responded to growing community needs with compassion, resolve, and measurable impact. Your support transformed challenges into opportunities by expanding access to care, strengthening stability for families, and advancing health across South Florida.
In 2025, your commitment helped us achieve milestones that once felt out of reach. In May, we proudly opened our newly expanded Little Havana Health Center—an investment that doubles, and for some services triples, our capacity to serve individuals and families in the heart of one of South Florida’s most under-resourced neighborhoods. Your ongoing generosity ensures that essential services like housing have the resources they need to thrive. Because housing is healthcare, strong and well-resourced housing programs do more than serve families in crisis—they create the stable foundation that improves health, breaks cycles of emergency care, and demonstrates the kind of impact that attracts transformative funding from partners like the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund. This achievement is a direct reflection of what you’ve helped build through your sustained support.
These achievements belong to you. They reflect your belief that access to healthcare, housing, and supportive services should never depend on income, insurance status, or circumstance. This report shows what you made possible – improved health outcomes, expanded access to care, and stronger, more resilient communities. Your partnership continues to shape a healthier future for South Florida.
On behalf of our board, our staff, and the people we are honored to serve—thank you. Your partnership is transforming lives.
Warm regards,

Karin Sabey
Chief Executive Officer
One Year Later: A Transformative Investment, A Community Renewed

In 2024, Care Resource received a historic $9 million gift from MacKenzie Scott—an extraordinary affirmation of a mission our donors have long championed.
One year later, the impact of that investment continues to grow. Because of this support, we advanced the expansion of our Little Havana Health Center, addressing longstanding barriers to care in a community where nearly 30% of residents are uninsured and almost one-third live below the poverty line.
Your generosity helped create a comprehensive, community-centered health home offering primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health services, dental care, behavioral health, and an on-site pharmacy—all under one roof. Families can now access screenings, follow-up care, and coordinated treatment plans in a single, welcoming location.
This landmark investment reinforced what our supporters already know: Care Resource is a trusted, effective partner capable of delivering meaningful, equitable change. Together, we are ensuring that Little Havana residents receive the dignified, whole-person care they deserve.
Driving Excellence in Care Through Strong Partnerships—Thanks to You
Care Resource Receives Grant from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos to Support Families Experiencing Homelessness
Care Resource was recently selected as one of just 32 organizations nationwide to receive a grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund to expand support for families experiencing homelessness.
Over the next five years, this investment will allow us to deepen emergency housing assistance, strengthen case management and outreach, and connect families with long-term housing solutions and supportive services.
This grant complements the broader foundation of care that supporters like you help sustain every day. Your continued commitment makes it possible for Care Resource to deliver integrated healthcare, behavioral health services, and social support – creating the stable platform families need to benefit fully from housing-focused investments like this one.
Joy Fishman: A Partnership That Endures
We are deeply grateful to Joy Fishman and the Fishman Family Foundation for their dedication.
Joy’s generosity continued this year when she participated in our community Back-to-School Health fair held at the end of summer in Lauderhill. Joys support enabled us to provide more than 300 students with backpacks filled with essential learning materials.
Joy’s personal commitment continues to energize our efforts to address the opioid crisis and provide essential harm reduction programs to vulnerable populations through The SPOT program.
In 2025, The SPOT distributed more than 35,000 doses of Naloxone, and since its founding, over 655 individuals have enrolled in the program.
Partners in the Fight Against Hunger

Giving takes many forms, and our corporate partners show up with generosity all year long. Because of you, Food for Life can meet the needs of our clients far beyond the holiday season.
In November alone, partners like Juneau Construction delivered bags of groceries, while Bayview Asset Management contributed over 100 canned goods for Thanksgiving baskets—helping families gather around full tables. Every food donation and every financial gift fuels this impact year-round.
We are deeply grateful to our partners and donors who make hope and nourishment possible for our community.

Since its founding by the late Richard Campbell Zahn in 1995, The Campbell Foundation has been at the forefront of advancing HIV research—funding groundbreaking studies to discover better treatments and ultimately a cure. For more than 10 years, The Campbell Foundation has stood alongside Care Resource, contributing nearly $30,000 to support HIV prevention, emergency assistance, nutrition access, and mobile medical outreach.
The Campbell Foundation has a long history of supporting organizations that care for people affected by HIV. We are honored by their generosity, and this gift will help us continue delivering essential health services to the individuals and families we serve. – Karin Sabey, Care Resource Chief Executive Officer

We are deeply grateful for this sustained commitment and for decades of leadership in advancing HIV research and care.
Give Miami Day Raises $21,000+ to Combat Food Insecurity, Homelessness, and More

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Care Resource employees, our Board of Directors, and dedicated stakeholders, we raised $7,000 in matching gifts. With the support of our community, Give Miami Day 2025 generated over $21,000 for the Emergency Assistance Fund—an achievement that will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
Nearly 100 staff and supporters joined together for the inaugural Give Miami 5K, walking and running in solidarity for our mission. In total, we received more than 200 gifts, reflecting the power of collective action and compassion.
Funds raised through Give Miami Day are vital to sustaining Care Resource’s Emergency Assistance Fund. These resources help address urgent challenges such as food insecurity, homelessness, and transportation barriers—obstacles that often prevent patients from accessing the care they need. By removing these barriers, we empower families and individuals to receive life-changing healthcare, paving the way for healthier, more prosperous lives.
The impact is clear: 30% of all service encounters in 2024–2025 were connected to resources provided by the Emergency Assistance Fund.
