Implementing Mobile and Contactless Check-Ins
To increase safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, Care Resource is introducing curbside waiting rooms at two of our health centers in Little Havana and Ft. Lauderdale. Beginning on November 2, 2020, patients can access a seamless and contactless check-in process for all scheduled medical appointments.
Prior to an appointment, patients will receive a one-day reminder via text message, prompting them to fill out any necessary online forms and ensuring they understand next steps. The text will also provide a phone number dedicated to curbside check-ins. Upon their arrival at the center the following day, they will be met by staff who will direct them to established waiting areas. They can check-in using the provided phone number from the comfort of their vehicle or outside seating.
When the exam room is ready, our front desk receptionists will send patients a text-message notification. At this time, they may enter the health center and must wear a face mask. Patients will be asked to complete any necessary documentation before being escorted to an exam room by a patient care assistant, who will also don personal protective equipment (PPE).
Please note that curbside waiting rooms are only in place in Little Havana and Ft. Lauderdale, and cannot be used for lab appointments. Adapting to these changes, we maintain an awareness of the risk of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, and we look forward to introducing curbside waiting rooms. These changes at our centers in Little Havana and Ft. Lauderdale intend to reduce unnecessary points of contact between all those in our health center community and reduce risk of exposure.
According to Douglas Steele, MSN, RN, Director of Medical Care Services at Care Resource, “curbside waiting helps to ensure that patients do not postpone medical appointments due to fear of contracting an illness within a waiting room. We look forward to serving our patients during this new normal, continuing to prioritize quality healthcare.”
