The COVID-19 era poses new challenges for vaccine access that is being met with creative solutions and partnerships.
On Saturday, May 15, Care Resource in partnership with the Association-Exchange & Development (AEDAP), the Rotary Club, and Bishop Anthony Martin from South Miami Heights Haitian Baptist Emmanuel Church, joined forces to both celebrate Haitian Heritage Month and expand COVID-19 vaccinations.
According to Ron Ledain, MBA, Director of Marketing, Health Promotion and Linkage, “During this event at South Miami Heights Haitian Baptist Emmanuel Church, Care Resource was able to celebrate Haitian culture while prioritizing health. We vaccinated over thirty-five individuals and delivered eleven HIV tests. The faster access to vaccinations are expanded, the sooner the pandemic can end. By partnering with community partners and places of worship, the health center has the opportunity to increase community-based vaccinations to meet vaccination challenges.”
Thank you Florida Representative Marie Woodson, Florida Representative Kevin Chambliss, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and other community leaders for attending, for your support, and for creating awareness about increasing access to COVID-19 vaccinations throughout South Florida.
Care Resource is currently offering either the 2-dose Moderna vaccine or the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at health center locations. Moderna vaccines are being administered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Johnson & Johnson vaccines are being administered on Wednesdays and Fridays. Vaccines are available to all individuals 18 years and older. There is no-cost and no out-of-pocket expense to receive a vaccine. At this time, we do not offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine which is the only one authorized for emergency use in individuals that are at least 16 years of age, according to the FDA.
