During National Women’s Health Week (May 14 to 20), Care Resource further emphasizes the importance of providing comprehensive healthcare services that cater to every aspect of women’s health.
Women’s healthcare is not just about treating symptoms; it’s about empowering individuals to lead healthier lives at every stage. At Care Resource, we’re committed to providing competent, compassionate, and affordable access to healthcare options because we understand that every woman deserves comprehensive care tailored to her unique needs. – Dr. Sheryl Zayas, Medical Director, Medical Services.
Here are a few things one can do to improve self-care.
- Self-Examinations & Physical Examinations: Regular self-examinations can complement mammograms, aiding in early detection. Additionally, scheduling cervical screenings with a medical provider can help reproductive health. Care Resource offers a holistic approach, encompassing routine examinations, health education, and screenings tailored to individual needs. The health centers also offer routine Pap smears for cervical health and breast cancer screenings, including referrals for colposcopy.
- Dental Checkups & Cleanings: Schedule regular dental and maintenance visits to ensure oral health. Regular dental visits offer preventive care through professional cleanings and fluoride treatments, effectively warding off cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Early detection of oral diseases enables Care Resource’s dental team to identify problems like gum disease, oral cancer, and tooth decay at their onset for prompt treatment.
- Regular Labs & STI Screenings: Get lab work done regularly to monitor vital signs and detect early signs of potential health issues. Care Resource’s commitment to comprehensive care extends to testing and prevention services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), empowering women to take charge of their sexual health. Depending on sexual activity and lifestyle, one can opt into testing more frequently.
- Mental Health Check-Ins: Foster a social community and work with a mental health provider to prioritize your mental well-being. Care Resource provides dedicated support for women’s mental health. Care Resource’s therapists are licensed and trained to address the diverse range of issues that women may face, from stress and anxiety to trauma and relationship challenges. In some cases, mental health complications can lead to other physical health issues.
- Dietary Support and Nutritional Counseling: Being mindful of the impact of diet can help one meet their goals and avoid things like diabetes and heart conditions. The health center’s nutritionist offers dietary support and nutritional counseling, aiding individuals in setting and achieving their health goals. Through personalized consultations, they provide guidance on nutrition tailored to each person’s specific needs and objectives. Whether it’s weight management, addressing dietary restrictions, or optimizing nutritional intake during pregnancy or menopause, Care Resource’s nutritionist offers expert advice and support.
