Support Care Resource on Give Miami Day, November 21
This November 21, Care Resource is asking for community support on Give Miami Day. As one of the nation’s largest annual giving events, Give Miami Day is a 24-hour online campaign, where residents of Miami can explore the online profiles of nonprofits serving Miami-Dade County and donate.
Care Resource is a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Healthcare Center that serves underserved communities in South Florida. In order to meet the needs of the community, Care Resource is asking for support in the renovation and expansion of its Midtown Miami Health Center. Located in the heart of Miami-Dade County, a federally designated medically underserved area, this center would maximize Care Resource’s ability to reach the most vulnerable and care for anyone in need.
At Care Resource, patients can access care regardless of their ability to pay. Approximately 68% of Care Resource’s patients are uninsured, and the vast majority of our patients are below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) or have incomes at or below 200% of the FPL. Over the past fiscal year, Care Resource has provided $5.9 million in no-cost or discounted services and strives to continue to do so.
Health center providers are aware of the social determinants that affect access to care: access to transportation, housing, inadequate health insurance, food insecurity, and more. The health center offers social support services, including case management, housing, and employment assistance. In addition, staff members are multicultural, represent the diverse communities the center serves, and provide care in multiple languages.
Care Resource provides integrated and complete care. Departments work together to care for the whole person and provide medical, behavioral, and dental care. The renovated Midtown Miami Health Center integrates all services so that patients can address their needs in a single day, avoiding additional transportation costs.
Support for Care Resource on Give Miami Day is a show of support for accessible, quality, and comprehensive healthcare for all.
