Care Resource is awarded $500,000 by The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to fund capital improvements to its Broward facility located on 871 W Oakland Park Blvd, Wilton Manors, Florida.
Ft Lauderdale, FL (May 2, 2012) – The $500,000 award for the HRSA project entitled Health Center Hurricane Preparedness will begin in May 2012 and is scheduled for completion in April 2014. Capital improvements will be made to Care Resource’s facility so that this Federally Qualified Health Center will be able to provide uninterrupted medical care to members of the community during a hurricane or similar emergency situation.
Rick Siclari, Chief Executive Officer of Care Resource said, “We are thrilled to be selected to receive these funds for our Broward FQHC facilities. The population we serve includes many members of the LGBT and HIV communities, who have historically been marginalized, discriminated against, and suffer from stigma. It is vital that during a time of emergency, they will have uninterrupted access to health services in an environment where they are welcome, comfortable, and have developed significant trust. Safeguarding our facilities during a major storm will enable us to do this”.
