2023 Marks 40 Years of Providing High-Quality Health Care in South Florida
Miami, Florida (February 2023) – For 40 years Care Resource Community Health Centers, Inc. has been dedicated to its mission to improve upon the health and overall quality of life of our diverse South Florida communities in need. What began in 1983 as Health Crisis Network (HCN) in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, has since transformed into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with five locations located in Midtown Miami, Little Havana, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
Over the years, Care Resource has responded to the needs of the community by providing life changing patient care, while expanding its range of medical specialties, and investing in technology and infrastructure to remain on the cutting-edge of community health care. Services have grown to include primary medical care, dental and pediatric services, behavioral health, case management, and other crucial support services.
According to the Florida Association of Community Health Centers, Care Resource health centers provided 74,600 visits to 16,800 unduplicated patients in 2021 – of which 88.8% of patients reported incomes below 200% of the poverty level and nearly two-thirds either had no insurance or were enrolled in Medicaid. Additionally, its health centers accounted for 844 jobs in 2021 throughout its service area, providing jobs both in Care Resource health centers and throughout the neighborhoods and communities in which they are located. In addition to the 286 direct jobs, 278 additional indirect/induced jobs were sustained because of activity generated by its health centers and staff.
“The progress we have made and the evolution of our health center over the past four decades has been simply remarkable. However, there has been one constant amidst the change; that constant has been our staff and volunteers. What has not changed is the compassion, competence, and commitment displayed in caring for our patients and community. It is also the greatest source of personal and professional pride for me. That commitment to excellence has sustained our health center for the past 40 years, and it will carry us forward in the years ahead. Many thanks to everyone who has been part of this journey.” Rick Siclari, Chief Executive Officer, Care Resource.
