Biography
Antonio Vazquez-Pausa was born in Cuba and came to Miami as a teenager. Born into a medical family, Antonio decided to pursue a career in social work at age 21.
Having graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University, he worked in Miami Dade College and New Horizons Community Mental Health Center before becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 1992.
Being always fascinated by the human mind, Antonio worked for 31 years at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s behavioral health. While there he was deeply impacted by the AIDS epidemic. He saw many patients, friends and relatives pass away from it. Therefore, he decided to make HIV counseling a field he wanted to be always be close to.
In 2022 he took a year long sabbatical. A year later, he applied to work at Care Resource which he had known to be a beacon of hope for many in the community.
Here, he implements elements of CBT, DBT and supportive psychotherapy in his practice. Antonio is fluent in English and Spanish and has great command of Portuguese as well. He has traveled extensively and spends most of his private time with his family, including his dogs.
