This health month serves as an opportunity for Care Resource to heighten awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases including cancer, heart disease, and depression.
It is also a time to further encourage healthy living decisions, such as exercising and eating healthy. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, men in the United States, on average, die 5 years earlier than women and die at higher rates from the three leading causes of death, heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries.
According to Gloria Cabral, RD, LDN, Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist, “Men should use this month to take stock of their health now and think about where they want it to be. Do they want to lose weight, gain muscle, or simply eat more vegetables? It is important to set small and achievable goals and work with the Care Resource team to make them a reality.”
During the month of June, new patients without insurance are eligible to receive a medical voucher that includes a no-cost basic exam and labs. To make a medical appointment, call 305-576-1234 – Extension #470 (English) or #471 (Spanish).
Through education, prevention, research, care and treatment, and support services, Care Resource improves upon the health and overall quality of life of our diverse South Florida communities in need.
