Helping South Florida Breathe Better and be on the Pathway to a Healthier Tomorrow
On Thursday, November 16, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Care Resource is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. Quitting is not an easy task, but there is no time better than the present to improve one’s health. Let us work together to establish a plan to quit smoking, learn about the many tools available to aid in this process, and more importantly experience the immediate benefits of quitting.
The University of Miami’s award-winning Tobacco Cessation Program will be at Care Resource’s Medical and Behavioral Health office located on the second floor of 3801 Biscayne Boulevard.
This is an opportunity to meet with one of Care Resource’s caring and licensed Behavioral Health professionals, as well as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, register for a session with trained facilitators, receive a two to four week supply of nicotine patches, gum or lozenges, and more.
“Encourage someone you know on November 16 to visit Care Resource, and make a plan to quit. All interested persons are encouraged to make this visit whether they are in the pre-contemplation or contemplation stages of thinking about quitting. A Tobacco Treatment Specialist will help them prepare and take action focused on an important step toward a healthier life and increase their chances of quitting successfully.” – Janelle Job, LCSW – Behavioral Health Services Manager
“Quitting smoking is one of the single most important things that our patients can do to improve the health of themselves and their families.” – Robert Goubeaux, D.O., Primary Care Physician, Medical Director
According to the American Cancer Society, about 36.5 million Americans still smoke cigarettes, and tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the world. While cigarette smoking rates have dropped (from 42% in 1965 to 15.1% in 2015), cigar, pipe, and hookah – other dangerous and addictive ways to smoke tobacco – are very much on the rise. Smoking kills people – there’s no “safe” way to smoke tobacco.
