Giselle Mallon, M.S., LMHC, Clinical Counselor II (Little Havana)

Biography

Giselle Mallon is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor proficient in both English and Spanish who obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from FIU in 1999.

Ms. Mallon completed her Master’s Degree in Psychology in 2003 from Carlos Albizu University and has worked in the mental health field for the past 13 years, assisting her clients to fulfill their potentials and lead functional lives. She has worked in the State Correctional system performing evaluations for sex offenders and providing group therapy for sex offenders, anger management and assertiveness groups in prison.

Ms. Mallon conducted mental health evaluations and rounds for the inmates placed in prison-confinement and attended to the suicidal crisis situations arising. She worked in the Partial Hospitalization Programs setting providing assessment, treatment planning and coordinating group therapy for adults enduring Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Major Depressive Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and more providing them with anger management, psychotherapy process, assertiveness, social skills, medication compliance, and relapse prevention group therapy.

Giselle has provided substance abuse counseling in the outpatient setting for individuals as well as groups and has also worked in providing psychosocial rehabilitation group therapy in different community mental health centers in Miami.

Ms. Mallon has worked with children for over 4 years and continues to do it and assist the children on managing Attention Deficit Disorder, Conduct Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Adjustment disorders as well as assisting their families on learning to manage their children’s behaviors and providing them with needed support and today continues to work with the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community in our local community.

She is certified in the CLEAR program to educate and assist individuals in mastering their own potentials and making better life decisions. Ms. Mallon is now providing services at the Care Resource Little Havana office in a full-time basis where she continues to provide services for our LGBT population and members of the Ryan White program in need of counseling services as well as serving women, children and families of the Hispanic community enduring a number of trauma and socioeconomic stressors.

According to Giselle, “I am proud to be part of the Care Resource Behavioral health team and be committed to fulfilling my life purpose which includes helping people become cognizant of their own potentials and strengths and use them to overcome life difficulties and lead successful and functional lives, providing them with support, compassion and genuine care.”
