Expanding At-Home HIV Testing Program
Care Resource received a $2,500 grant from Regions Bank to support the health center’s at-home HIV testing program. This grant supports the thousands of miles of travel associated with the personalized and contactless delivery of at-home testing kits to patients living in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
The at-home HIV testing program empowers patients with knowledge of their HIV status and ensures that patients that test positive are seamlessly linked with the health center’s medical and behavioral health teams to receive appropriate treatment and counseling as quickly as possible.
Our testing counselors drive to the patient’s home to provide contactless delivery of their test. Patients then receive their results within twenty minutes and work alongside the counselor to decide the next steps together.

South Florida remains as a capital for high rates of new HIV diagnoses in the United States. HIV testing has gone down during the COVID-19 pandemic as many individuals are reluctant to leavetheir homes. The grant from Regions Bank further allows Care Resource to continue providing essential testing and linkage services while keep patients safe and socially distanced.
Patients who have not previously tested positive for HIV and who have not tested within three months can register here for at-home testing. Once registered, patients arecontacted by a testing counselor to complete a risk assessment and plan their testing delivery.
