Celebrate with Us from August 9-15, 2020
This year’s National Health Center Week (NHCW) theme is “Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities Today and in the Future.” Our Care Resource family has reflected on our role as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) during this pandemic. In doing so, we prioritized an expansion of medical and behavioral health services via telehealth and began an at-home HIV testing program in order to continue providing essential care.
Our health centers complied with the social distancing guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to keep our community safe. Additionally, to stay connected with our community, our staff developed a Facebook Live series entitled, “The Health Connection,” with the first episode discussing “Safe Sex During COVID-19“.
A community health center is defined by its connection with community members and how they show that they care. We determined it was important to reassure our patients during such a turbulent time. We were reminded of our pledge to serve as a medical home for South Floridians, which is a commitment to equitable and quality healthcare. Each and every one of us, from our front-line staff to our CEO, strive to lead by example. We meet our patients where they are, responding to their needs.
We would not have been able to respond so swiftly and efficiently to the COVID-19 pandemic unless we had set this standard of responsiveness and community engagement. As an FQHC since 2009, we’ve provided quality primary healthcare and HIV/AIDS services and that won’t be compromised. Our health center is also an essential community resource.
We believe it’s our responsibility to empower our patients to vote in the primary election. This week, we are encouraging patients to make their voices heard. We serve patients who have opinions regarding their neighborhoods, counties, how to end HIV within the nation, and more. This week, we’re grateful to reflect on the work that we’ve done, but we’re amplifying our patients’ voices too.
Join us in celebrating our health center and staff who always prioritize our patients. For more information on how to access our services and the importance of registering to vote, follow us on our social media platforms.
