MIAMI, FL. (September 2018) – Care Resource was an award recipient of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) funding to strengthen the health center’s readiness to respond to the needs of the community after future hurricanes or other disasters.

This funding is being applied to further strengthen the infrastructure at the Little Havana medical facility located at 1901 S.W. 1st Street and the Fort Lauderdale facility located at 871 West Oakland Park Boulevard. This funding will also enhance the soon-to-be-implemented Telehealth system that will add remote access to services by allowing clients to hold an appointment with their provider remotely, especially when inclement weather presents either a safety concern or a transportation barrier.

Care Resource demonstrated extraordinary resilience in the immediate aftermath following Hurricane Irma in 2017. Health centers like Care Resource serve as lifelines to services and networks of resources in the community every day, and especially during a crisis.

The health center is thankful to HRSA for ensuring the continued access to primary health care services at community health centers in areas affected by hurricanes.

The Hurricane Season continues until November 30.
