Biography
Vanessa Robinson is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who obtained her Master of Arts degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Vanessa would describe her counseling style as holistic, as she incorporates: sensorimotor psychotherapies, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and person-centered techniques. She focuses on helping clients feel safe and validated in a non-judgmental space in hopes it may help empower them to choose how to grow through their challenges.
Before working at Care Resource, Vanessa worked with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and their families during sessions at home and in the community. She worked with people who struggle with addictions in an inpatient and outpatient setting. She also worked with those suffering from post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression.
During sessions, Vanessa uses psychoeducation and somatic exercises to help clients develop a mind-body connection to help them lead themselves throughout the therapeutic process.
Vanessa believes “there is a difference between knowing what we ‘must do’ and believing we are worth our efforts to make change”.
