Care Resource – Advancing and Developing Childhood Milestones

June is Children’s health month at Care Resource. This is an opportunity to take further charge of your child’s health including physical, mental and social well-being. Most parents know the basics of keeping children healthy, like offering them healthy foods, making sure they get enough sleep and exercise and insuring their safety. It is also important for children to get regular checkups with their health care provider. These visits are a chance to check your child’s development. They are also a good time to catch or prevent problems. This month, new clients without Health Insurance can receive a free comprehensive check-up and sports physical. To redeem this promotion, one MUST first make an appointment. To make an appointment, call 305-576-1234 EXT: 470 (English) and 471 (Spanish).

Other than checkups, school-age children should be seen for:
• Significant weight gain or loss
• Sleep problems or change in behavior
• Fever higher than 102
• Rashes or skin infections
• Frequent sore throats
• Breathing problems

According to Alicia Fernandez-Garcia, MD, Pediatrician with Care Resource, “We want to make sure that children are advancing and developing their milestones correctly and they are achieving their schoolwork goals properly. Healthy development means that children of all abilities, including those with special health care needs, are able to grow up where their social, emotional and educational needs are met. Parents know their child best. If your child is not meeting the milestones for his or her age, or if you think there could be a problem with your child’s development, come into Care Resource and share your concerns. We provide quality pediatric care in the underserved communities. Make your appointment today.”

It is important for children to be treated by pediatricians in an environment that is equipped to meet the needs of children. Your family’s pediatrician is an important partner in keeping your child happy and healthy, from birth through adolescence. With offices conveniently located throughout South Florida, where your family lives, works and plays, Care Resource’s pediatric services are right for you.

There are important advantages to pediatric care. At Care Resource, our locations are staffed with board certified pediatric staff. We strive to provide the highest standard of health care services for children in our region. We are dedicated to developing advances in pediatric / adolescent care, promoting the well-being of children and families, and serving as advocates for children’s health related issues. Services include well child care; pediatric hearing, vision and dental care; immunizations; routine health screenings and adolescent care.

Care Resource would like to invite the South Florida Community to our “United for Care Block Party”. This event is a major health fair being held on June 20th, 2015 in conjunction with Reverend Darryl Baxter and Churches United for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS in celebration of National HIV Testing Day. This event targets families and community members in the Miami area that are traditionally underserved for health and social services. About 300 participants will be coming from different churches and neighborhoods to attend. Several different types of health screenings and community services will be offered, free of charge, including but not limited to HIV screenings, wellness screenings, health care navigation, social work and legal advice. Participants will be encouraged to visit most of the stations as entertainment, incentives, and free food will be provided. The location and time of the block party will be at Bethel Apostolic Temple at 1855 NW 119th St., Miami, FL 33167 from 11am to 4pm.
