Affordable Care Act (ACA) Open Enrollment Ends Feb 15, 2015

aca-cr-homepage2If you haven’t enrolled in 2015 coverage by February 15, you generally can’t buy Marketplace health coverage for 2015 unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

In addition, if you were enrolled in a 2014 Marketplace plan, your coverage ended December 31, 2014. This is true no matter when your 2014 coverage began. To continue health coverage in 2015, you can renew your current health plan or choose a new plan through the Marketplace until February 15, 2015. You can change plans any time until February 15, even if you were automatically enrolled in a plan and that coverage has already begun. Change plans by the 15th of the month and your coverage begins the first day of the next month.

Regarding those Care Resource clients who are on the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), a limited number of clients are able to transition into the Health Insurance Marketplace for health care coverage during open enrollment ending on February 15th.

ADAP has restricted resources and not all clients will be selected to transition. If the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) is between 100% & 249 %( $11,670 and 29,175 yearly incomes for a single household) clients will be contacted by their local county health department or by their Case Managers regarding eligibility to transition to Health Insurance Marketplace for Coverage.

If clients have been selected they need to contact their Case Managers that will be give them instructions on how to register through a Certified Application Counselor which will provide information on insurances that ADAP will support.  If clients were not selected for transition to health insurance coverage, they will not have any changes and ADAP will continue as usual, however ADAP will not pay for a health insurance plan that the client has chosen to buy on their own. #obamacare #healthcare #aca
