Addressing community needs through group work

Care Resource is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and provides primary medical services. Members of the community who are uninsured or underinsured are able to seek care through the available sliding-fee scale program, which is based on a client’s income and household size.  Additional services include, but are not limited to, dental care, women’s and family services, pharmacy services,  specialized HIV care and treatment, behavioral health and substance abuse services, case management, and free HIV testing and STD screenings.

In addition to these services, there is a whole array of groups available to further maximize the diverse needs of the community. Some include but are not limited to Women’s Empowerment Groups, Healthy Relationships Group, Hepatitis C Support Groups and more.

These groups occur to support the community. They include clinical and medical support. Here at Care Resource, since we have Walgreens as our home pharmacy, we are able to provide both free and low cost medications.  All serve a purpose. Each is catered for a specific population group.” – Maite Soria, Care Resource Health Promotion and Marketing Associate

Healthcare encompasses the whole person. In addition to high-quality health care, our clients have an array of needs that can be addressed through group work. These groups’ help people feel more connected, to make sure that they are not alone and to ensure that their health is maximized.” – Tom Pietrogallo, Care Resource Director of Psychosocial Services
